So I know it’s been awhile since I posted. I even was considering shutting this whole thing down. As I’m sure you can understand I have a lot on my plate and my kids come before my blog
But I have something I just have to rave about.
About a week ago I picked up the Jessica Seinfeld book, Deceptively Delicious, and I just can’t say enough good things about it. It has put an end to my lunch time battle over food. It is so nice to see my daughter happily eating her grilled cheese and knowing that there is butternut squash hidden away inside it. I no longer have to stress if she doesn’t eat all her veggies on her plate because they are now also hidden in her pasta, which she will undoubtedly eat. And I gotta say it was great to see the smile on her face when I said “yes, you can have another brownie”, and she is totally oblivious to the spinach and carrot baked right in. And unbelievable it all tasted really good. So thank you Jessica Seinfeld!!! Anything that helps me argue less with my three year old deserves a round of applause. I’ve even found myself sneaking in food purees in various recipes that are not from the book.
If any of you also struggle with this, please check this book out, you will be glad you did.
Nice to see you blogging again! I’ve been checking in to see if you’ve posted. Glad to hear that the Jessica Seinfeld book has helped you with your daughther’s eating. I know there’s some “controversy” about hiding foods to get your kids to eat. Hey, if it works for you great! I was able to get some of her recipes online but haven’t tried them yet. I look forward to trying some, esp. that brownie one!
I’ll let you know when I try them out!
P.S. I know how hard it is to blog when you are busy with your children…my family comes first too!
I think I need these recipes for me! I don’t eat nearly as much veggies as I should. Anaiya on the other hand gets a good serving of fruits and veggies everday and is starting now to eat dinner meats with us, now that she has more than two teeth. I will give this suggestion to Aimee and see if we can’t pick up some of these recipes and try them out if Anaiya ever gets to being a fussy eater. Thanks for the tip!
oh, and I just have to mention that the brownies are also only around 130 calories and the have around 3 grams of fiber and ohhhh soooo delicious
I love this book so much, Rey seems to have been born with the carb addict gene. I have locks on all our kitchen cabinets except the lazy susans which is where the food is
I have found her countless times sitting in the corner with a box of quaker squares and I think she would eat the whole box if I didn’t stop her. I try to only keep whole grain cereals, crackers, etc. around, but even at that, there is more to life than whole grains!!
